About Me
I hope you have enjoyed browsing my work. I am a contemporary painter based in Edinburgh, Scotland. I originally studied physics at Oxford University and was a patent attorney for over ten years before deciding to focus on my lifelong passion for art. I completed a BA degree in fine art at Edinburgh College of Art and took part in the ECA Degree Show 2016 from 28th May - 5th June, in Edinburgh. I have exhibited and sold my work at various exhibitions over the last few years (please click on the Exhibitions tab above for more details), and my work has been purchased by various private collectors.
About My Work
I love colour and the fluidity of paint, and trying to capture the richness of life in painted texture and marks. At the start of each work I often use very fluid acrylic paint in pools and runs: I tilt the surface around to let the paint flow naturally in its own paths, while at the same time trying to coax it into shapes capturing the character of the subject.
Painting for me is a way of distilling experience and thinking about life. The overriding aim of my work is to capture those fleeting moments in time when we experience beauty, a feeling of connection, or just appreciation for being alive.
