Artwork on Paper

Inspired by the Scottish Highlands

"Oyster Catchers", 62 x 44cm, acrylic on thick watercolour paper

This painting was inspired by an artist retreat in the Rosneath Peninsula in Argyll, Scotland, in October 2018. I drove to the village of Arrochar, at the very top of Loch Long, where I watched these oyster catchers wading around at the water's edge. I enjoy watching birds which are unusual for me to see (I live in the city in Edinburgh) and I love the orange of the oyster catchers' legs and beaks, standing out against their surroundings.

"Trio of Cormorants", black ink on thick watercolour paper
